Mentor Progam in Manual Lymph Drainage

This Mentoring Program in Manual Lymph Drainage (Vodder Technique) has been created to teach and inspire practitioners to use the MLD they have learned in any 5-day program. The purpose of this Program is to discuss, consult, teach and demonstrate the ways in which a practitioner can assess a particular clients condition and then establish a protocol for the treatment of this condition.

Information

Gay Lee will work with you at the level of your current training in MLD. If you have only completed the first course of training she will discuss and teach the appropriate protocols for the client. With further advanced level courses of training more specific assessments and protocols will be offered for the treatment of the clients through this program.

Mentoring sessions can include any and all of: theory, practical (with live feedback tool), case consultation, and business management.

Once a practitioner registers for the Mentoring Program they will be able to download a complete set of forms Program Exclusive forms to be used during each mentoring session. The practitioner then fills out the forms and takes notes during their session.

A discussion covering adjunct areas of relevance for the client may also be included in the session. This may cover skin care, diet and exercise. The use and understanding of how to assess correct garments is available to those practitioners who are Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLT). Additional forms for garment protocols will also be available to these practitioners.

"These Mentoring Program is designed to increase the use and successful application of MLD by the practitioner creating the best possible outcome for their clients."

Live and Learn MLD

The Mentor Program makes four distinct areas of focus available to the practitioner. Gay Lee's expertise allows the practitioner the flexibility to include any combination of these areas of focus, even within a single session. The practitioner chooses ahead of time which areas each session will focus on: fundamentals of MLD theory, practical application critique (with use of RMS), client case consultation, and best business practices.

The practitioner will email a target agenda and area(s) of focus with specific questions. Gay Lee will then prepare for and guide the session to cover the agenda and answer questions to the extent that time allows. Successive sessions can be scheduled as wanted by the practitioner.

The wealth and breadth of theory Gay Lee can impart allows teaching the fundamentals of MLD down to the relationship between the lymphatic system and specific organs of the body, all of which ties into the practical application of MLD.A remote practical session over FaceTime or Zoom requires the practitioner to have an RMS (link) available. Gay Lee observes and can critique the practical MLD strokes as they are being demonstrated by the practitioner in real time without having to be in the room. Gay Lee can also demonstrate the correct use of each stroke from her end on an RMS as well. A consulting session can be used to discuss a particular client or clients. Before session, the practitioner will provide a case history of the client and is highly encouraged to include photos of the clients' conditions by email before the session. Gay Lee will also go over the Assessment & Intake Form and then the Protocols & Treatment Form with the practitioner. These forms are supplied as an exclusive part of the Mentor Program.
Best business practices may be addressed as they arise or given time of focused attention during a session. This includes practice set-up and management, as well as print and digital marketing. Again, the practitioner will get much more out of each session by preparing their questions and concerns ahead of time in an email to Gay Lee.

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful healing effect on the body. Applied research in Australia, Europe, and North America has proven its efficacy as a stand-alone treatment, and a combined treatment with other therapies. The Vodder technique was developed in France in 1932 by Emil and Estrid Vodder. MLD has been recognized as the most effective manual therapeutic technique to assist lymph flow, increase drainage of the tissues, rejuvenate the dermis, and relieve stress and tension throughout the body. MLD Mentor Program — Vodder Technique

This Mentoring Program has been designed to assist interested MLD practitioners to review and expand their understanding of the theory behind MLD, and review client cases to discuss ideas for further assessment and more specific protocols for treatment. The time is spent as the practitioner desires

We now offer virtual practical application and review of MLD strokes! This requires the purchase of the RMS pressure tester Gay Lee has developed to determine the pressure a practitioner exerts on the skin of a client.

This course comes with an exclusive set of forms for assessment and protocols not available with any other programs anywhere. Additionally this program includes premium forms available on this site for free.

This is a remote program done over phone and video calls with Gay Lee. Optional in-person sessions are available.

  • Lodging near (and at) Bloom Healing Botanic Spa:
You have several options when traveling to The Bellevue Club (TBC) and needing overnight accommodations.
The Bellevue Club (TBC) itself is home to a handfull of hotel rooms. These rooms can be booked by calling
Bloom Healing Botanical Spa at (510) 984-4550 or by emailing us at hello@bloomspa.care .
TBC offers a free, secure parking garage. Rooms and rates are included below. Please note that these rooms are first come first serve and are not guaranteed until the reservation is completed.

    1 suite @ $167/night
4 rooms with access to a shared balcony @ $126/night
    1 room with no balcony @ $110/night

For those looking for a traditional hotel stay, we recommend booking a room at the Oakland Marriot City Center located at 1001 Broadway Ave. It is in a walkable neighborhood, close to public transportation, and offers a paid parking garage, urban city experience with a lively nightlife and bar/restaurant scene.

Another fantastic lodging option is to AirBnB your stay. We do receommend sticking to the Adams Point, Lakeshore, Rose Garden and Piedmont neighborhoods.

Alternately, Rebecca, owner of Bloom Healing Botanical Spa has three rooms available in her home, where the classroom is located just a few short miles from the Bellevue Club. These rooms, again, are first come first serve and start at up to $110/night. You can be sure to expect a relaxing, non-toxic environment, friendly dog and cat, community, mentorship, and light breakfast with tea and/or coffee. These rooms can also be booked by calling Bloom Healing Botanical Spa at (510) 984-4550 or by emailing us at hello@bloomspa.care.

  • Bloom Healing Botanic Spa is an exclusive skin care and full service spa overlooking Lake Merritt. The classroom is attractive and spacious. Access is easy from Oakland Airport, nearby lodging shuttles, taxi, BART, or Uber/Lyft, or nearby San Francisco. PARKING: Student parking is in the parking lot next to the one-story building.

Oakland is in a renaissance, but isn't a tourist attraction like SF, which can make traditional lodging a bit more challenging. If you aren't finding something in your price range from the list included, we recommend sharing a room with someone as opposed to finding something "cheaper". Do NOT stay at a motel!! While Oakland is considered to be relatively safe, it is definitely an urban experience that requires a bit of street smarts.
Lock your doors. Don't leave anything in your vehicle. (if driving) Don't walk alone late at night.
Neighborhoods are block by block, so you can end up in a very undesirable situation very quickly. I recommend staying within the outlined area in the map provided if you are looking for a safe, quiet, and walkable environment with small shops, cafes, and low-key nightlife. That doesn't mean you'll die if you venture outside of the lines, but I do not recommend venturing out of them for lodging, as a matter of financial convenience.
It should also be noted that Oakland is also experiencing a housing crisis. Do not be alarmed by the tent cities, however, keep your distance and don't stare or take photographs, please. It is disrespectful.

The owner of Bloom Healing Botanical Spa has three rooms available in her home for rent, where the classroom is located, at 4401 Davenport Ave. Oakland 94619.

Weather in the Bay Area is generally mild, but we do have micro-climates that require wardrobe adjustments from one nieghborhood to the next. Also, this is Northern California, not Southern. Do not be fooled by temperatures in the 50's or 60's - we are known for fog and a cool climate. Most buildings do not have central heat, and most restaurants and cafes will keep doors open year-round. Bring lots of layers and a bag to carry them in. Wear warm socks and shoes that can stand up to moisture. Bring an umbrella and/or a water resistant jacket with a hood.
