The Fundamentals Body Course is an intensive class involving extensive hands-on work. You learn the four basic movements of MLD. The basic strokes and their application to each of 9 body parts is taught over 5 days. You will use these movements in routines effective in treating all parts of the body. A thorough introduction to MLD® theory will be presented. The theory covers anatomy and physiology of the lymph vessel system, connective tissue, effects of MLD and contraindications. Edemas are described. Those who attend the Basic course (first of the four courses for certification as a Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist) are prepared for the Therapy I course. (Course Description) This is a Gay Lee Gulbrandson, CLT-LANA, course. (Practical 32 hrs., Theory 8 hrs.) Gay Lee is an engaging and dedicated teacher who supports the learning objective with verve, energy, and genuine affection for the subject and for her students. Your class will be a positive learning experience you will never forget, and your new skills will open up a whole new low-stress manual specialty for grateful survivors.

Our building is just south of the corner of East-West Highway and Colesville Road in Silver Spring, one half block south of the Red Line's Silver Spring Metro Station and one block north of the D.C. Line.
From the Beltway: Take Colesville Road South past East-West Highway. Or take Georgia Avenue South and turn right on Colesville and pass East-West Highway. 8380 is on the left - you will need to pass our building, go around the circle and come north on Colesville to enter the parking lot.
From East-West Highway (either direction): Turn South on Colesville Road, we are on the left. You will need to pass our building, go around the circle and come north on Colesville to enter the parking lot.
From downtown DC: Take 16th Street North. At the District line (circle), exit northeast onto Colesville Road. We are on the right.

Visitor Parking at our Building:
TWO (2) hour visitor parking is free at our front entrance (Colesville Road) and behind the building (interior lot – access from Colesville and East-West Highway). The spots are perfect for Clinic Clients and short visits. These lots are patrolled and they will ticket/tow as Metro is so close. In the interior lot, visitor parking is permitted in the first three rows next to our building.
After Hours/Weekend Parking:
These parking spaces surrounding our building are FREE on evenings (after 6 pm), weekends and holidays.
Longer Term Business Hour Parking:
Monday through Friday from 7 am to 6 pm, you will need to park at a meter on the street or in a municipal lot nearby.
The closest long term parking (9 hours @ $1./hr.) is opposite our building on Colesville Road-- look for meters just south of our building (after the short term section -- you will be just a few steps from our door).
Long term parking is metered in nearby public lots at $0.75/hour. Be sure you are in a long term space – spaces marked "PCS" are reserved for monthly commuter pass holders. The public lots are open 24 hours a day and payment is required between 7 am and 7 pm. There are also private lots scattered nearby that are much more expensive. The nearest lots are:
NOAA Building Garage (Garage 58) with long term meters -- This lot is at 1315 East-West Highway, directly across the street from GIANT (½ block away from our door).
Bonifant-Dixon garage (Garage 5) with long term meters -- This lot is at 1101 Bonifant Drive (Bonifant and Dixon – about 2½ blocks away).
How to Access our Suite:
PMTI is located in a secure office building. If the entrance doors are locked (after hours and weekends), pick up the phone at either door and ask to be connected to PMTI.

Protocols & Assessment

The Protocols & Assessment Course is an intensive class involving extensive hands-on work. The practical sessions of this course include special techniques for the joints, the head (including intra-oral) and abdomen. They introduce the student to therapeutic applications. You will use these movements and the next level of movements in routines effective in treating all parts of the body. A thorough review and update of MLD® theory will be presented. A review of all techniques / movements of MLD and sequences is given. In the theory sessions, advanced theory and current research is discussed as well as a review of Basic theory. An oral, written and practical exam is given. Those who complete the Therapy I are qualified to attend the Therapy II/III course, the third and fourth of the courses for full certification as a Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist. (Description) This is a Gay Lee Gulbrandson, CLT-LANA, course. (Practical 32 hrs., Theory 8 hrs.) The Neck & Face Course teaches the skills for the Neck and Face and you learn the advanced movements of MLD and use these movements in routines effective in treating the face and neck. A thorough review of MLD theory and new information will be presented. Current theory and research are provided to broaden understanding of the lymph vessel system and MLD. Additional face techniques are demonstrated for treatment of such conditions as acne, rosacea, pre- and post-cosmetic surgery, and congestion. Those who complete the course earn certification as a Manual Lymph Drainage Neck & Face Esthetician. (Description) This is a Gay Lee Gulbrandson course. (Practical 30 hrs., Theory 10 hrs.)
